Albumin level is decreased in severe liver diseases, malabsorption, diarrhoea, eclampsia and nephrosis. Albumin is a single reagent kit for quantitative determination of albumin in human serum and plasma based on BCG method.
Several stains such as methyl orange, HABA, bromocresol green (BCG) and bromocresol purple (BCP) have been used in serum albumin measurement, but BCG is the most used reagent, and is recommended by AACC .
